The closures are part of the county’s observance of the national holiday. Essential services such as parks will remain available to residents during regular hours.

County officials said that Dorchester County Parks will stay open for their normal operating hours throughout the holiday weekend. Regular business operations for all affected county offices are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, May 26.

Dorchester County employs more than 1,000 full-time staff members to manage its operations and maintains a range of public facilities including Ashley River Park, Pine Trace Park, senior centers, libraries and a career and technology center; it also promotes financial transparency by publishing employee salary data and financial reports while advancing infrastructure through projects funded by ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) and CDBG (Community Development Block Grant), according to the official website.

The county supports community welfare with initiatives addressing homelessness, mental health services, mosquito control programs and public safety efforts. It is also home to award-winning school districts recognized for educational excellence. In addition to these services, Dorchester County maintains ties with special districts such as the Lake Marion Regional Water Agency and Summers Corner Improvement District.
