Town of Summerville issued the following announcement on September 10.
Summerville Town Council presented two proclamations at its September 2021 council meeting recognizing September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Ovarian cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. Council hopes the increased public awareness of the symptoms and risk factors will enhance chances of early detection and increase survival rates.
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month recognizes the courage and compassion of children who have battled or are currently battling cancer. While working together to raise awareness of the devastating effects of childhood cancer and the need for continued research into the causes of and cure for disease, we can make a positive difference for families, patients, and survivors in the future.
