MUSC Health issued the following announcement on September 24.
"When I was in medical school, the number of women in medical school was nowhere near the 50% that it is currently. Women make up approximately 36% of today’s physician workforce. When I graduated from medical school, that number was closer to 10-15%. I feel honored and humbled to serve my patients, but I also feel that I must strive to do my very best to represent the women of medicine today."
