Description
In this class participants will learn how to best draft a press release; what are the basic, essential elements to include; and to whom the media release should be sent. The participants will leave with a custom template to use in the future for any media pitching they want to do along with a list of media contacts that are best suited to receive press releases. Participants will learn what makes a great pitch and how to speak on camera.
This year the Chamber will offer another series of workshops aimed at supporting businesses and providing professional development. Participants can register for individual classes in the series.
This six-week series will feature a variety of topics:
Taking better pictures- the best practices to improve your photos
Basics of graphic design- the basic elements of good graphics and how to decide what’s best for your visuals
Emailing marketing- utilizing email to better market or communicate about your business or organization
How to interact with the traditional media to secure your own coverage
How to create meaningful videos from your phone to tell your story
How to ramp up your SEO and website
Crisis Care- Business leaders to learn how to provide practical crisis care should their business or personnel experience a stressful event or loss.
Classes are 8 am - 10 am at the Chamber on Wednesdays as noted below.
The classes are $25 for members per class or $40 for prospective members per class.

Topics:
Traditional Media (March 8) -In this class participants will learn how to best draft a press release; what are the basic, essential elements to include; and to whom the media release should be sent. Participants will learn what makes a great pitch and how to speak on camera.
Crisis Care for Leaders (March 22) This is a presentation for business leaders to learn how to provide practical crisis care should their business or personnel experience a stressful event or loss. The presentation walks leaders through necessary communications, stress management, self care, re-engaging workforce while in grief, honoring the loss, managing expectations, and event anniversaries.
Email Marketing (April 12)- Email is one of the best ways to engage your customers. Join us to learn best practices for email marketing and communication. Understand how to create a drip campaign that engages your customers and how to understand the analytics behind when to send your messages.
Basics of videography from your phone (April 26) -This class will dive into how to produce simple but impactful videos from a cell phone. The class will dissect popular video techniques and learn how to recreate them within minutes. Participants will need a smartphone and access to their social media accounts to take advantage of the class. Participants will also learn how to use video to better tell their stories and support their public relations efforts.
Websites, SEO, and content development (May 10) -Participants will leave understanding simple ways to boost their SEO and use AdWords. The class will cover the basics of what both SEO and AdWords are and how anyone, at any level, can engage the technology.
