Tonight, County Council also adopted a Proclamation recognizing June 19, 2022, Juneteenth Day in Dorchester County.
"Whereas, Juneteenth is an important opportunity to honor the principles of the Declaration of Independence and celebrate the achievements and contributions African Americans have made, and continue to make, in Dorchester County, South Carolina and across our Nation. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that Dorchester County Council hereby proclaims June 19, 2022, as Juneteenth Day in Dorchester County and encourages all citizens of Dorchester County to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities."
